Treatment of the curvature of the septum (the thin partition in the nose from front to back that separates the nasal cavity into two chambers) obstructing one or both of the nasal cavities is called septum deviation surgery. The curvature of the septum can cause a distorted nasal structure, affecting the air flow within the nose. Although it is usually congenital, it can also be the result of trauma. It can cause problems such as nasal congestion, runny nose and even breathing difficulties in patients.
